Tucano Maiden Voyage
It is a ARF manufactured by Phoenix Models in Vietnam (http://phoenixmodel.com/Product.aspx?ProductId=590) They make a couple different sizes of the Tucano with mine being the larger 1/4 scale plane. Normally is would be powered with a 50CC gas motor but that would not be much fun. I powered mine with a NeuMotors 8019/180Kv motor turning a 22x12 prop with a 12S 8300 battery and a Castle 160HV Edge controller. The flying weight is about 27lbs. The plane has Futaba 18MZ radio with 9 of the new Hacker/Jeti Ditex servos(https://hackermotorusa.com/product-category/hacker-ditex-servos-usa/) . The servos offer some nice features not found in other brands including telemetry(if you have the right radio) to monitor the servo health during operation.
The kit is very complete with nearly all the accessories needed to complete it in the box. It comes with pneumatic retracts and all the plumbing to install them. Wheels and a painted spinner are also included.
As the video shows the first flight was without any drama. The plane took off quickly and climbed away at a good rate. The trim was nearly perfect. If you feel the need for a large plane that is easy to fly yet looks cool the Phoenix 1/4th scale Tucano is worth considering.
Thanks to Steve Sidell for most of the stil photos.
